Ahhhh...St. Simons..AGAIN! My favorite island in the world. You NEED to come to St. Simons -- for the sand the sun, the surf and to taste all the delicious foods. My favorite: fried pickles. Now let me go ahead and tell you, I am not a pickle person. On the other hand, fry anything and I will devour it! :) The fried pickles at Gnat's Landing are the best I have ever had. The pickles are very salty and cut extremely thin, so that they are almost chip like. Then, the batter adds and extra tasty crunch! YUM! We also had onion rings, but they couldn't compare to the pickles. Now, you know me, I'm not a very adventurous eater, so I ate fried cheese sticks (again fried!). Instead, I'll tell you about my mom's dinner choice. She got a fried green tomato sandwich with bacon and Cajun mayo with a side of crunchy cole slaw. My mom said the sandwich was great and that she loves the uniqueness of the green tomatoes. Her favorite part though, was the cole slaw which was crisp, crunchy and refreshing. The atmosphere is great. It is out doors with a roof over head and bench seating. Everything is very casual and fun. This restaurant has changed the way I look at fried pickles!
Hi, I'm Hannah and I love food! I also love to eat out with my family at local restaurants in the 'Phretta. This blog is all about tasty eats and where to find them. I have a special thing for a good Caesar salad, but I'll review whatever I happen to have munched on recently. Hope you enjoy it!
